TPMS-Cool is an interdisciplinary engineering and product development project, emerging from the collaboration between architecture, engineering and management students. While the urban heat island phenomenon steadily raises urban temperatures in the Netherlands, mechanical cooling systems release their waste heat into the very environment they are meant to relieve.

The answer is a market-ready cooling panel for dry cooling towers, combining porous clay, TPMS gyroid geometries and additive manufacturing to maximise evaporative cooling while keeping structural performance. The work was defined by a continuous dialogue between material, geometry and manufacturing, and carried through to climate chamber testing, life cycle assessment and a go-to-market strategy.
